About A&P

Safety

Adolfson & Peterson believes that everyone involved in any project should be able to go home safely at the end of the day to his or her friends and family. Job site safety is taken very seriously. Adolfson & Peterson has adopted a "zero injury" policy, and we met and surpassed our goal of 2,000,000 consecutive work-hours without a lost time accident. This is a major accomplishment for Adolfson & Peterson as well as the entire construction management industry.

The result of our accident prevention program is one of the best safety records in the country for a general contractor of our size. Our current EMR is 0.50, which is nearly half the national average. We are pleased to be able to bring additional value to our clients through lower insurance rates for each project and unsurpassed safety.

EMR for last five years:

2007 - 0.50
2006 - 0.52
2005 - 0.51
2004 - 0.57
2003 - 0.53
2002 - 0.68

This accomplishment was achieved by establishing specific tactics of new employee training, pre-task planning, on-site training of all workers, topic-specific training and weekly toolbox meetings. Due to our deep commitment to safety, we have established numerous innovative programs and approaches, which will be put in place on your project.

As an industry leader, we carefully pre-plan all safety requirements and training needs. At the same time, we lead and require the same from our subcontractors as we continue to monitor and review the safety needs for any project, including pre-task planning regarding job hazard analysis.

Adolfson & Peterson is proactive in our focus on job site safety. Every day foremen and crew leaders will be required to have pre-task plans of daily (and in some cases hourly) tasks they will be doing. This effort will provide for an efficient and safe work environment before the task is even started. Crews will know exactly what is being done, who is doing it and what type of tool or equipment is needed for the specific tasks. Adolfson & Peterson has created pre-task planning cards to effectively facilitate this effort.

Our superintendent along with our safety director will oversee safety programs and training on your site. All on-site personnel will be held accountable for job site safety. Whether a new employee, trade contractor or veteran worker, if they see a hazard or problem they will be empowered and required to fix the problem or inform the superintendent of the hazard.
