(AURORA, Colo.- November 18,2011) – Adolfson & Peterson Construction (A&P) is pleased to announce that work is underway on a new, $25.5 million, energy-efficient office building for the Suncor Energy Commerce City Refinery. The building will provide permanent offices and workspace for nearly 300 employees currently working out of temporary, mobile office space. An additional $4 million of much-needed road and utility improvements to York Street and Brighton Boulevard will also be incorporated into the project scope, benefiting the entire surrounding community.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Tuesday, November 8, to celebrate the beginning of construction for the approximately 75,000-sf, two-story facility. The project is scheduled for completion by mid December 2012 in hopes employees will be able to move in before the holiday season.
The project will be built to be LEED Silver level certified. The project was designed by Intergroup Architects. Commerce City Mayor Paul Natale praised the energy-efficient project in his speech during the groundbreaking ceremony saying the new energy-efficient building will “vastly improve” the appearance of the Commerce City community. John Gallagher, Suncore Energy vice president of refining (USA), said “This is a facility that we will all be proud of.”
