A&P Donates $50,000 to the City of Cottonwood

07/30/2010
Tempe, AZ—July 30, 2010— Just months after completing construction of the Cottonwood Recreation Center, Adolfson & Peterson Construction (A&P) has donated $50,000 to the Cottonwood Parks and Recreation Department in support of after-school programs and programs for special needs children.

“We have become a part of this community, and we wanted to do something that would make a difference,” says John Barry, A&P Superintendent.

Bryan Dunn, Vice President of A&P’s Southwest region office, adds: “A&P is dedicated to supporting the communities in which the company operates and John and his entire team have lived this principle throughout the Cottonwood Recreation Center project. Throughout the 13-month project, John was adamant about putting every penny that we could back into the community.”

Among other things, A&P used local subcontractors and vendors on the project whenever possible, stayed at local hotels, ate at local restaurants and even rented houses in Cottonwood for some of their staff.

The Cottonwood Recreation Center, completed by A&P in March 2010, is a full-service facility that includes a gymnasium, lap pool, leisure pool, therapy pool, community events hall, climbing wall, and office complex. It features several energy- and water-saving measures, such as skylights, automatic lighting controls, extra insulation, and a regenerative media filter in the pool.

A&P is one of the top 50 construction companies in the U.S., providing construction management, design/build and general contracting services to public and private clients. A&P serves the K-12 school, energy, healthcare, higher education, municipal, multi-family, retail, and senior living market segments from its offices in Arizona, Colorado, Minnesota, North Carolina, Texas and Washington..
