New Steamboat Springs Senior Housing and Healthcare Facility Underway

AURORA, Colo. – VTBS Architects–Denver has completed the design of Casey’s Pond Senior Community, a new senior housing and healthcare facility in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Adolfson & Peterson Construction (A&P), the General Contractor for the project, broke ground in May. The projected construction cost is $24M with an estimated completion date of fall 2013.

The project is owned by the Colorado Senior Residences, Inc. and developed and operated by Pearl Senior Living Steamboat LLC.  The 117,487-sf facility includes 144 total units, which will provide three progressive levels of care for residents.  The building design is reflective of mountain architecture and integrates the overall design into the existing water features, including Casey’s Pond, with a view of the Steamboat Ski Area and the Yampa Valley.  The building was designed to capture the mountain aesthetics while addressing the extreme climate changes frequently experienced in the Steamboat area.
Gary Prager, AIA, LEED AP, Partner-in-Charge of the Denver office and Steven Gardner, Project Architect enjoyed working with Pearl Senior Living to create a design that will function for various lifestyles and anticipates the needs of future residents.
“This was a great design project where we were able to utilize the existing site conditions to incorporate into the overall project design, including connecting to Steamboat’s existing trail system,” said Prager.
This project is the fourth significant project A&P has begun for the Steamboat Springs community in recent years. Other projects include the Bud Werner Memorial Library Addition and Renovation, Yampa Valley Medical Center Expansion and the Colorado Mountain College Alpine Campus Student Center.
Randy Berner, ASHE, LEED AP, Project Executive in Charge for A&P said he feels A&P has developed a lifetime relationship with the City of Steamboat Springs and is looking forward to many more years of partnerships with the local community there. “We plan on being a staple for construction and hope to be here for years to come. Thank you, Steamboat for allowing us to contribute to your great community again,” he said.
