AP Construction Awarded Project For Audubon Recreation Center Renovation

AP lands opportunity to expand already impressive portfolio of municipal work in City of Garland

GARLAND, Texas – (Aug. 18, 2020) —- Adolfson & Peterson Construction (AP), a top national construction management firm and general contractor, was awarded the project contract for the City of Garland’s Audubon Recreation Center renovation. This center will add to the robust list of successful renovation projects for AP’s Texas office.

The project will include a 5,000-square-foot addition of a new fitness room, and a complete renovation of the existing 10,000-square-foot building including improvements to the multi-purpose rooms, restrooms, lobby, exterior façade, front patio and front canopy. These improvements and upgrades will better serve residents and guests of the center.

The Audubon Recreation Center is one of six recreation centers in the City of Garland. “Recreation is such an important component of life for our communities, so we are excited to be utilizing our vast renovation experience for the City of Garland,” said Anthony Roman, Special Projects Division Manager with AP. “The renovated recreation center will provide the Garland community many more years of use and wonderful memories.”

As part of the project, AP kicks off renovations this month, with an estimated completion date of Summer 2021.

In addition, Brown Reynolds Watford Architects (BRW) will serve as project architect and AECOM as program manager.

“Having been the architect for two prior small-scale renovations of Audubon Recreation Center, BRW is thrilled to be involved in bringing the City’s vision for this facility to life,” said Stephen Hilt, AIA, Director, BRW Architects.

Notable completed municipal renovation projects by AP include The REC of Grapevine, Moody Family YMCA in Dallas and The Marq Southlake. AP also has several related projects underway, including the Arlington ISD Arlington Fine Arts Center and Aquatics Complex. Other Texas AP projects include the new PGA Headquarters in Frisco, Park Cities Presbyterian Church in Dallas, and several education facilities for the University of Texas, Northside ISD in San Antonio, Fort Worth ISD, and Garland ISD.
