News Dakota.com Article - Construction of New Barnes County Jail Nearly Complete

VALLEY CITY, North Dakota – The new Barnes County Correctional Center is about a month away from opening on the east end of Valley City.

Assistant Project Manager Madison Young with Adolfson & Peterson Construction, talked about the final stages of the project.

She said Barnes County will begin processing jail inmates into the new facility by mid-September.

Barnes County officials will hold an open house at the new facility on Tuesday, September 7th from 12pm to 3pm. The public is welcome to attend.

Barnes County Auditor Beth Didier said through the end of July, the construction bills presented, so far, total $12,678,984.79. She said this includes the pre-construction engineering and the architectural fee for this project. She said, “I would anticipate that it will take a couple of months for the final bills to clear.”
