Mason County PUD 3 Solar Array
A&P partnered with Mason County Public Utilities District No. 3 (PUD 3) to install a 22,000-square-foot solar array on the roof of a maintenance building at PUD 3’s John’s Prairie Operations Center. The 225 kW DC fixed-tilt photovoltaic system will generate an estimated 189,000 kW annually, reducing PUD 3’s carbon footprint by more than 13 tons per year. AP Development (an A&P subsidiary) is leasing the roof area from PUD 3 and will own the array, taking advantage of federal and state incentives to reduce the system cost. In a 10-year energy service agreement, PUD 3 will purchase the power generated at a fixed rate lower than its cost of power and receive renewable energy credits. At the end of 10-year term, PUD 3 will have the option to purchase the system or have the array removed.
