The 1,320-room Vandenberg Hall, one of two cadet dormitory buildings at the U.S. Air Force Academy, is being renovated over multiple phases to minimize disruptions to the squadrons’ activities. During the latest phases, A&P completed the occupied renovation of 211,756 square feet and installed a 455 kW photovoltaic system on the roof to lower energy costs. The solar array will generate enough electricity to support the entire 900,000-square-foot dormitory during daylight hours.
