Location:
Colorado Springs, Colorado
Size:
455 kW
A&P Role:
General Contractor

This project consisted of 455kW adhered pliable thin-film modules, which were part of a larger $37.9 million historic preservation project on the US Air Force Academy Campus in Colorado Springs, Colorado. These frameless solar-panels are applied to the top of the roof membrane in a near-integrated application to allows for an unobtrusive solar-profile without the cost of a totally integrated model. Other significant benefits of this system include a reduction of the overall structural capacity required to support the array and the flat installation’s shade tolerance. This project is an excellent example of AP’s ability to enhance a historic facility with solar power without jeopardizing the client’s desire to maintain the established aesthetic and building profile.
