This phased interior demolition and renovation to support staff and student activities included the complete interior demo and build-out of 370 cadet rooms, 4 Squadron Assembly Rooms, 20 bathrooms, multiple offices and training and commons areas. The renovations included a complete remodel of the Cadet rooms, as well as remodeling the shower rooms. A new blast resistant aluminum curtain wall system was also installed for all the Cadet rooms on the north end of the facility that faced the adjacent roadway. The new curtain wall system includes tinted windows, sliding glass windows, and is comprised of 45% recycled material. The project scope also includes roof replacement and installation of a 457 kW Photovoltaic system. The total PV system will generate enough electricity to support the entire 900,000-sf dormitory during daylight hours. Vandenberg hall is included in the "Cadet Area," which is on the National Register of Historic Places.
