The Normandale Community College Campus parking structure is centrally located with four levels and 725 total stalls. The following elements are incorporated into the finished product: the parking structure footprint is 56,000 sf with a total parking structure area (all levels) of 218,000 sf. The parking structure is cast-in-place post-tension concrete with a thin brick veneer precast on the exterior. Between the precast veneers is a metal screening to give the ramp an enclosed building look. Total volume of concrete utilized was approximately 8,000. The two stair towers are constructed with self-consolidating cast-in-place colored concrete utilizing a Thermomass insulation system. Thermomass is an insulated concrete sandwich; much like one would see in a typical insulated precast situation in this case, the sandwich was cast-in-place. The stair towers include structurally large sloping windows, making the concrete forming and placement unique.
