Desert Edge High School

Location: Buckeye, Arizona

Client: Agua Fria Union High School District
Design Partners: Emc2 Group Architects Planners, PC

Adolfson & Peterson Construction completed Desert Edge High School in Buckeye, Arizona. The facility's innovative green and sustainable design and construction fosters a healthy learning environment and creates a living, learning tool for future generations.

This school is the first LEED® Silver Certified High School in the State of Arizona and was only the fourth in the nation to achieve LEED® Certification. The project consisted of an 85,000 square foot addition to the existing high school and a 15,000 square foot, free-standing, fine arts auditorium.

Work on the addition was performed while the facility was occupied and required detailed scheduling and a close working relationship with the school to eliminate all disruptions during construction. Sustainable elements utilized in the construction of Desert Edge High School include comprehensive waste management programs, energy efficient lighting, waterless urinals and "green" cleaning.
