Adolfson & Peterson Construction recently completed Verrado High School, a LEED® Silver registered facility, in Buckeye, Arizona. This unique high school promotes sustainability with components that are estimated to provide the school with a 29% energy savings ($42,916/yr). The school has been designed to utilize smaller learning communities to produce a home away from home for students.
Key LEED® standard components of the high school consist of water reduction technologies (both indoors and with landscaping), day lighting, recycled building materials, and improved air quality through low off-gassing paints and adhesives.
The two-story, 220,000 square foot high school campus consists of classrooms, technology labs, a 500-seat auditorium, administration offices, and a gymnasium with a seating capacity of 1,600. The site also includes a football/track stadium with a seating capacity of up to 4,000 total, varsity baseball fields, tennis courts, soccer fields and an adjacent shared sports park.
