The phased project requires various demolition components, including the 1948 old gymnasium wing, the 1966 middle/high school wing, the 1985 music/library and Heritage Hall. Site component demolition includes various utilities, roadways, walks and landscaping. The renovation portion of the project involved renovating the 1995 gym and repurposing adjacent spaces. Site improvements consisted of a new parking lot with a dedicated bus loop, walkways and landscape enhancements.

The project was funded through the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Building Excellent Schools Today (BEST) program and a voter-approved bond election.

The building includes a ground-source heating and cooling system for the entire school and is LEED Gold Certified. It was awarded Best K12 Education Project of 2014 by ENR Mountain States Best Project Awards.
