La Joya Performing Arts Center

Avondale, Arizona
Total Project Cost:
$7.2 million
23,000 SF
A&P Role:

Located on the campus of La Joya High School, the 630-seat stand-alone performing arts center includes a main auditorium and stage, dressing rooms, stage craft areas, stage lighting monitoring center, ticket booth, open conduit system, and state-of-the-art rigging, lighting and acoustical baffles. The team was tasked with reducing the budget during preconstruction.  The team identified the automated Vortek rigging system as an alternative to the traditional system.  While the automated system costs slightly more, the team was able to save the District $250,000 in reduced structural steel costs because of the reduced fly loft height.
