North High School Historic Renovations
A&P partnered with Gilmore Construction to complete an extensive restoration, renovation, and system update of the historic North High School, originally built in 1911. The Beaux-Arts style building is on the National Register of Historic Places and was designated a historic landmark by the City and County of Denver. This renovation project touched every room of the original high school, and the A&P/Gilmore team worked closely with specialty subcontractors and the Denver Landmark Preservation Commission to restore many original finishes, including plaster casting, ornamental iron work and masonry. Paint, carpet, and drop ceilings were all removed to reveal original woodwork, press-metal ceilings, and hardwood and mosaic tile flooring. The team worked with the historical society on the reroofing to ensure that all exterior views remained consistent with historical standards. In addition to the historical work, the school’s central utility plant was replaced, athletic facilities upgraded and improved, and mechanical systems and technology networks updated.
