The renovation of this two-story competition gymnasium included demolition, concrete, masonry, steel framing, drywall and interior finishes, plumbing, HVAC, electrical and fire suppression. One of the challenges the project team faced was completing construction while the school remained operational. Utility service could not be interrupted to adjacent facilities, so coordinating work schedules was vital to successfully completing the renovation. The renovations were completed a full eight months ahead of schedule, thanks to the early procurement of long-lead components, especially the new HVAC system. The accelerated results also saved money for the school district.
