MacArthur Park is a low-income, tax credit project that is helping to revitalize a blighted area of downtown Los Angeles. In Phase I, 90 units of wood-framed housing will be built over massive beams spanning a subway tunnel. The transit-oriented mixed-use development also incorporates approximately 15,000 square feet of street-level retail space, 3,000 square feet of office space, and a 95,000-square-foot parking structure for commuters. Improvements will also be made around the subway station and nearby streets, including new sidewalks, curbs and gutters, street trees and underground utilities. The public plaza and subway portal will also be upgraded.
