This new 59,000 square foot recreation center features a lap pool, lazy river with a large waterslide, locker rooms, large gymnasium, gymnastics area, basketball courts, running track, and a climbing wall. The large climbing wall and climbing pinnacle highlight the lounge area, which is accented by a rustic stone fireplace and a spacious pyramid-shaped skylight. Although the original plan was to build the recreation center on an open green space, it was instead recessed into a hillside to preserve the open space. The new location meant the addition of a large site-work package to the project, including importing 40,000 cubic yards of dirt and installing an underground drainage system.
“From the very beginning during the selection process for a Construction Manager/General Contractor, A&P was the only team to fully understand both the vision of the owner and design team as well as the challenges of construction in a small mountain community. They came first to listen and then helped guide us through the construction process enabling us to achieve much more that we believed was possible… Primarily due to the efforts of Adolfson & Peterson, the
project came in under budget and the town was able to opt for all the things on their wish list.” —Chuck Musgrave, AIA, Principal, Barker Rinker Seacat Architecture
