Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center

Thornton, Colorado
Total Project Cost:
$15.9 million
57,000 SF
A&P Role:

The Veterans Memorial Aquatics Center is a unique collaboration between the Adams 12 school district and the City of Thornton. The city donated the land and will maintain the landscaping, while the school district will maintain the facility. The Thornton Veterans Memorial is located adjacent to the center, and a second memorial in the lobby honors district graduates who lost their lives in service to their country.  Built for the district's competitive swimming program, this new aquatics center features a 50-meter competitive pool, one 3-meter and three 1-meter diving boards, lap pool, office and storage space, locker rooms, and seating for 800 spectators. Floating bulkheads allow the pool to be separated into areas for swimming, diving and practicing. A 102-panel solar system helps reduce energy consumption.
