This modern, technology-rich facility is the result of an extensive renovation of a 62,000-square-foot building dating back to 1960 and the new construction of a 103,000-square-foot addition. At the beginning of the project the very tight construction schedule was delayed almost five weeks, but using Building Information Modeling (BIM) helped the team get back on schedule. The use of BIM allowed the team to efficiently coordinate the mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) and detect clashes before construction began.The College of Business is the first LEED Gold building on campus, and its many sustainable features reduce water consumption by 30%, cut annual energy costs by 29% in the renovated building and 15% in the new building, and reduce water in landscape irrigation by at least 50%.
