
Kent became Chief Operating Officer (COO) of A&P in July 2012. As COO, Kent is responsible for the overall operations of the company, including P&L, safety, quality, productivity and resourcing. Prior to his role as COO, Kent was Executive Vice President with responsibility for A&P's Mountain States, Gulf States and Atlantic regions, as well as all federal projects.
Kent joined A&P in 1984 and has served the company as a project superintendent, project manager and vice president of operations with direct responsibility for field operations throughout the company. Kent led the implementation of Total Station at A&P, increasing surveying/layout efficiency and accuracy and he has been instrumental in the company's "zero incidents" approach to safety.
Prior to his career at A&P, Kent worked as a civil and construction engineer, holding positions of increasing responsibility with two nationally known engineering/construction firms. During this time, he expanded his knowledge and expertise in a number of areas of engineering including: civil, bridge and deck, piping, compressor, structural steel and soils. He also developed expertise in quality control and site survey and layout.
Kent holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Montana State University and an MBA in Finance from Colorado State University. In addition to his responsibilities at A&P, Kent serves on the board of AP Development and is chairman of the board for IState Insurance. He is an active member of the Associated Builders and Contractors of Colorado and the American Subcontractor Association, and is a certified trainer for electronic survey systems.
Away from the office Kent enjoys skiing, hiking and spending time with his two children.
