Dallas, TX (July 19, 2019) – Adolfson & Peterson Construction (AP) completed renovation of GRACE, a nonprofit relief agency that provides food, clothing, financial assistance and other vital necessities to individuals in need. Located in Grapevine and serving communities in far northeast Tarrant County, the project consists of renovations to the campus’ existing east building, plus a new 4,076 square foot building that connects the east and west buildings creating one encompassed campus for GRACE. AP also assisted GRACE with their restoration efforts following an unfortunate fire that occurred in spring of 2018.
“Our friends at Adolfson & Peterson helped guide us through the entire project,” said Shonda Schaefer, Chief Executive Officer of GRACE. “AP not only served as a strong partner in the construction and restoration of the GRACE facility, AP became a valued supporter, as well. We were so fortunate to be named one of beneficiaries of the annual A&P Golf Tournament this year and, hopefully, for years to come,” said Ms. Schaefer. “Their generosity has helped many people make better lives for themselves and their families.”
Designed by M.J. Wright and Associates, the new addition offers offices, board rooms, conference rooms and a warming kitchen for community cooking classes. The project also provides new landscaping, an irrigation system and additional surface parking to accommodate their continued growth. Fire damage affected the campus’ west building, which included restoring the community clinic’s food bank and medical exam rooms.
GRACE offers a variety of services to individuals struggling with limited income or recent emergencies including a community clinic, food pantry, a transitional housing program and emergency assistance.
“My sister and I were raised by an extraordinary single Mother, Donna Karen Nichter, and I can still remember the emotions of watching her work multiple jobs, endure long hours and still having to do more with less,” said Corbett Nichter, Regional President with AP. “Many of us at AP have similar stories which is why this project meant so much to us not as construction professionals, but as humans. If one family can improve their situation and not have to carry those emotions of anxiety, I know we’ve made an impact and it couldn’t have been done without the commitment of GRACE and the vast support they receive. GRACE is a gift to everyone and we are blessed to have them as part of the fabric of our community.”
Today, GRACE continues to be a centralized, coordinated effort of churches, businesses and individuals donating food, clothing, monetary donations, and even professional services to Grapevine, Colleyville, and Southlake residents, as well as homeless and transient families in need. Programs have grown to include low cost medical services, transitional housing, and general emergency assistance (food, clothes, furniture, financial assistance, information and referrals).
