K-12 Project Named Finalist in Dallas-Area Community Impact Award

Dallas, Texas – D CEO, a prominent DFW-area business publication, named the Arlington Independent School District’s (AISD) Arts and Athletic Complex as a finalist in its 2021 Commercial Real Estate Awards program.

AISD’s Arts and Athletics Complex, a state-of-the-art development occupying over 21 acres that serves the district’s entire student body, was one of six finalists in the award program’s Best Community Impact category. The category highlights the most prominent real estate projects in North Texas poised to have a lasting impact on their surrounding neighborhoods.

D CEO cited the project’s ability to provide nearly 60,000 students with a well-rounded curriculum that promotes academic success and college and career readiness. AP proudly served as general contractor and HKS Architects was the design partner.

“Dallas has some of the most exciting commercial real estate in the country, but projects like this stand out among all the office high rises and multi-use developments for a reason,” said Granger Hassmann, VP of Preconstruction and Estimating for AP. “Put simply, they help strengthen communities and improve lives. That’s why AP’s K-12 work is so important to us. Beyond the facility itself, our work in this market really builds something special.”

AISD’s Arts and Athletics Complex is comprised of two facilities – the Center for Visual and Performing Arts and the Athletics Center – encompassing 195,511 square feet in Arlington’s highly visible and high-profile Entertainment District. The complex is just blocks away from AT&T Stadium and Globe Life Field, and the facilities provide practice, competition and performance venues for the district’s arts and athletics programs.

AP began construction on the project in September 2018. The final stage of construction in 2020 faced pandemic-related headwinds including supply chain and labor transportation delays. Despite this, AP and the project team remained in constant communication, delivering the project to AISD in November 2020.
