Fort Lupton Recreation Center Expansion

The Fort Lupton Recreation Center Expansion added 25,585 square feet to a beloved, high-use community facility while maintaining uninterrupted public operation. Central to the addition were a new 4,000-square-foot, four-lane natatorium and a 7,400-square-foot multi-sport gymnasium, expanding the center’s offerings for aquatics and indoor recreation. As a vital community hub serving youth programs, daycare, senior lunches, and fitness activities, the project required careful phasing and coordination to ensure daily operations continued smoothly, particularly during summer events and peak usage hours.

Construction included a two-wing addition, interior renovations, site utility upgrades, and the installation of Colorado’s first Vortex misting shelter. The project team used a steel roof structure and precast exterior wall panels to accelerate construction while preserving design integrity. Additional improvements such as a reconfigured interior layout and a prominent entry canopy enhanced wayfinding and accessibility. Since opening, the enhanced facility has been met with overwhelmingly positive community feedback and increased membership, reinforcing its role as an inclusive and inspiring space for all ages.
