YWCA Wilsonian Apartments

A&P Role:

AP  transformed these aging apartments into a safe and secure shelter for families fleeing from violence. The 22-apartment building, originally built in 1917, required major renovations inside and outside, including the remediation of unforeseen hazardous materials such as lead paint, asbestos and dry rot. In addition, the team replaced the plumbing, added lighting and security features, and pulled off, resealed and secured approximately 100 windows. The parking area was graded and improved, and the YWCA's existing play structure moved to the site. To help the YWCA stay within its limited budget, the  team organized a gifts-in-kind program and a huge volunteer workforce.
