AP Breaks Ground on Rockwall County Jail Expansion and Renovation Project

AP has started construction on the Rockwall County Jail’s expansion and renovation project. The project will expand the existing facility to include an additional 444 new beds to the facility’s current 190-bed occupancy. The new state-of-the-art structure will accommodate more than 82,943 square feet for new civil infrastructure, in addition to renovations for the facility’s sheriff’s office.

“We understand the needs of Rockwall County and are glad we can assist in this project,” said Bob Lemke, vice president of operations, AP. “We take great pride in our ability to understand and fulfill the needs of our clients, and are happy to provide our expertise to assist the county.”

AP has partnered with Broaddus & Associates, as the program manager, and DLR Group for the project’s design and build. In addition, the project will include innovation design elements that will be found throughout the facility, adding direct and indirect supervision dormitories, intake and visitation rooms, a food services and dietary unit, as well as facilities for laundry, medical and mental health. Further renovations will occur within the existing jail facility’s north and west wings.
