The Stephen G. Terrell Recreation Center project in Allen, Texas, for which AP was the lead general contractor, was named a finalist in Dallas Business Journal’s Best Real Estate Deals Awards annual program. Competing in the Community Impact category, the project is the City of Allen’s newest recreation center in the fast-growing north Dallas suburb where its livability and business-friendly attitude has attracted on-going investments from multiple companies looking to grow their business.
Stephen G. Terrell Recreation Center, located at 1680 West Exchange Parkway, opened its doors in January 2024 as the first recreation center serving the Allen community west of Highway 75. AP worked closely with the Barker Rinker Seacat (BRS), who served as the design team, the city and the community to thoughtfully curate the amenities, including two gymnasiums with three recreation courts and eight competitive multipurpose courts.

A key design feature includes several gathering spaces to foster socialization, large and small, around the facility’s activity areas to bring people together. Several large meeting rooms and classrooms, along with outdoor gathering spaces, were envisioned to be a community living room with a variety of areas for both play and rest for all ages.
