This 28,000-sf LEED Gold library incorporates a raised floor with underfloor air distribution, materials high in recycled content and passive solar. Evolving from numerous public meetings, the library meets a wide range of community interests in both traditional and flexible use areas by blending modern information technology amenities with neighborhood characteristics to activate a corner site in a dynamic urban infill redevelopment. Taking cues from an eclectic mix of surrounding architecture including retail, residential and business environments, the library presents a facade composed of varied elevations, abundant transparency and a diverse palate of traditional building materials – brick, stone, wood and metal.
