Carlton, Minnesota – August 22, 2022 – Adolfson & Peterson Construction (AP), a national, family-owned construction management and contracting company, celebrated the groundbreaking for the new state of the art Carlton County justice center. The site has been cleared and digging will begin this week.

“We are looking forward to the project and are excited to get started,” said Tim Clark, Director of Operations at AP. “We look forward to working with Carlton County and Klein McCarthy through this process and hope to build a strong relationship with the community.”

The new jail will house approximately 85 inmates with substantial support program capabilities to assist the County with inmate recovery and a goal of reducing recidivism. Originally, the project consisted of just a new law enforcement center located on the current Government Center parking lot but has since grown to potentially include courts and other County functions on a green field site. The AP team will be tasked with assisting the County to ensure program goals are met.

AP will be working on the new justice center over the next two years with anticipation to be completed by September of 2024.
