AP Breaks Ground on Hibbing's New Public Safety Building

Adolfson & Peterson Construction is proud to celebrate the groundbreaking of Hibbing’s new Public Safety Center, an important community investment that will bring the city’s police and fire departments together under one roof for the first time.

The City of Hibbing held its groundbreaking ceremony on November 6 at the former Central Range Public Works Facility on East 23rd Street. Alongside AP, city leaders, project partners, first responders, and community members gathered to mark the start of a facility that will strengthen emergency response, improve interdepartmental communication, and provide modern, high-performing spaces for training, equipment, and technology.

Designed by Brunton Architects & Engineers and with engineering by Widseth, the new center will feature modern, energy-efficient spaces that meet today’s operational needs while allowing for future growth. AP is honored to serve as construction manager for this milestone project, supported by funding from a 2024 voter-approved local sales tax, state bonding, IRRR grants, and additional local contributions.

Construction is beginning immediately, with completion anticipated in Fall 2026. When finished, the new Public Safety Center will serve as a long-term asset for Hibbing, reflecting years of planning, broad community support, and a commitment to building safe, resilient infrastructure.

AP is grateful to partner with the City of Hibbing and all project stakeholders as we help deliver a facility designed to support first responders and strengthen the community for generations to come.
