AP Celebrates Topping Off Milestone at The Craftsman on France

Adolfson & Peterson Construction (AP) and project partners gathered yesterday to celebrate a major construction milestone at The Craftsman on France with a topping off ceremony, marking the completion of the building’s highest structural point.

The event recognized the collective efforts of the owner, design partners, trade partners, and the AP project team, who have worked together to bring the project to this important stage. Following remarks and a ceremonial wall signing, a tree was raised to the top of the structure in keeping with a long-standing Scandinavian topping-out tradition.

The placement of a tree on the building symbolizes the safe completion of the structure and represents wishes for continued safety, good luck, and prosperity for the future building and its occupants.

“This milestone is a powerful reminder of what can be accomplished through strong collaboration, craftsmanship, and a shared commitment to safety and quality,” said David Grandstaff, President of AP Midwest “We take special pride in this moment, as The Craftsman will serve as AP’s home in the years ahead.”

The Craftsman of France has required significant coordination and effort across every phase of construction. In total, more than 13,000 cubic yards of concrete have been placed to support the structure now standing on site.

The topping off ceremony provided an opportunity to pause and recognize the skilled trades, project partners, and field teams whose dedication and attention to detail continue to drive the project forward. Construction will now advance into the next phases of work as the team moves toward building enclosure and interior progress.
