AP Gulf States’ Project Wins Best Real Estate Deal

DALLAS, Texas –  AP Gulf States’ client, Arlington Independent School District (AISD), recently snapped up more recognition for its Arts and Athletics Complex, a state-of-the-art facility sitting on more than 21 acres that serves the district’s entire student body.

The Dallas Business Journal, one of the region’s most respected business publications, named AISD’s Arts and Athletics Complex the best real estate deal in the “community or neighborhood impact” category. The award was part of the publication’s 29th Annual Best Real Estate Deals of 2020 program.

AP Vice President of Operations Terry Loreth and HKS Architects Principal Wayne Renaud accepted the award on behalf of AISD at the program’s ceremony on September 23rd in Dallas.

“AISD’s Arts & Athletic Complex aligns with AISD’s goal to provide students a well-rounded curriculum so they graduate exceptionally prepared for college, career and citizenship,” said Loreth. “At AP, we strive to make positive impacts in the communities we serve, and this project perfectly illustrates how we reach that goal.”

The 195,511-SF complex is comprised of two facilities, the Center for Visual and Performing Arts and the Athletics Center. Located just blocks away from the Arlington Entertainment District near AT&T Stadium and Globe Life Field, the complex opened in December 2020 and serves nearly 60,000 students and their families.

AP began construction on the project in September 2018. The final stage of construction in 2020 faced pandemic-related headwinds including supply chain and labor transportation delays. Despite this, AP and the project team remained in constant communication, delivering the project to AISD in November 2020.

The Best Real Estate Deals program highlights the stakeholders and dealmakers that brought about 2020’s biggest transactions and projects in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
