The addition is a 14,179-square-foot, two-story structure connected to existing administrative offices. The project also includes approximately 810 square feet of remodeled space within the existing building.
The Boulder Jail Addition project required working in an occupied, sensitive environment while respecting the critical operations of the adjacent jail facility. The team prioritized site security, ensuring workers avoided interactions with inmates and maintaining the safety of all personnel. Collaboration with jail staff began before construction to address operational needs and concerns, with ongoing communication throughout the project. This approach allowed the team to coordinate large deliveries and utility shutdowns well in advance, minimizing disruptions.
The drawing set provided required significant design input throughout the schedule. AP worked closely with the design team, fostering a collaborative and respectful relationship. Both the design team and subcontractors readily shared and accepted feedback, allowing the process to progress smoothly.
The small project site presented additional challenges, demanding constant and clear communication among all trades. Realistic timelines and detailed schedule coordination were essential to ensure seamless progress. Despite tight constraints and limited schedule flexibility for subcontractors, the team successfully completed the project through strong collaboration and efficient planning.
