Overview

This project involved the modification of an existing space into a 3,000 SF cleanroom laboratory designed to meet strict environmental and pressure control requirements. A key challenge was performing construction directly adjacent to an operational cleanroom, requiring meticulous containment, coordination, and phased work to prevent disruption. The scope included the installation of three new air handling units (AHUs) above the ceiling, supported by a custom catwalk system that allows maintenance access without impacting lab operations. To enhance system reliability, a new 120-ton redundant chiller plant and associated exterior piping were installed to serve the AHUs. Additional features included particulate counters, a 400 SF Dycem contamination control mat hallway, and carefully constructed pressure relationships to maintain proper airflow between spaces. The project required precise integration of new air handlers and structural support systems within an existing facility while maintaining uninterrupted neighboring operations.
