Strategically situated on a sloped site, the building’s basement is concealed at the front and opens to the north, overlooking a lake. The northwest portion of the site incorporates a geothermal heat field, emphasizing sustainable energy use.
Security is central to the design, with a two-stall vehicle sallyport on the northeast side providing secure and efficient access for sheriff deputies and inmate transfers. The booking and processing area is seamlessly connected, ensuring smooth operations. The lobby, which leads to dispatch, is outfitted with ballistic-rated glass and wall panels at the transaction counter, prioritizing visitor and staff safety.
The basement includes three holding areas equipped with detention-grade plumbing fixtures, windows, and hollow metal frames, all designed for maximum security. Detention windows are further reinforced with Kane screens. A dedicated evidence storage area ensures secure handling and management of critical materials.
