Le Sueur County Justice Center

This 90,000 sf justice center features an 80-bed jail facility, dispatch, and a law enforcement center, two courtrooms, county attorney and administration offices and emergency services. The justice center enables the county to securely transport inmates from their cells to the courtrooms without leaving the secured facility. Along with meeting state requirements for long-term housing of inmates, the new facility includes a pre-booking and booking area with multiple holding cells, a recreation room, library, classroom and medical room to further address the health of inmates as well as the safety of the staff. The dispatch and law enforcement center provide growth and efficiency to the county with spacious work areas, interview rooms and conference rooms to work with outside counties and the public. The upper level of the justice center is dedicated to courts with two state-of-art courtrooms that include a “detainee enclosure,” probation, drug court, court administration, human services, and a law library. Conference rooms line the courtroom entrances for public defenders and others to meet with clients as well as non-contact visitation rooms for inmates and their representatives. The second floor also includes two judges’ chambers and jury deliberation rooms. The lower level of the building houses emergency services, IT and maintenance staff and a “use of force” room for in house training exercises and wellness for the law enforcement. Both levels are only accessible from the main lobby security checkpoint with an x-ray machine and metal detector.
