The new AACU headquarters is a 5-Story, 164,200-sf, Class A, office building accommodating 780 employees. The prominent location of the building creates a landmark at the gateway to the new American campus. As such, the architecture of the building complements the overall campus while preserving the Credit Union’s own unique identity. The building’s design was guided by a sense of holistic sustainability, reinforcing the Credit Union’s commitment to environmental stewardship and the value it places on its people. The thoughtful evidence-based design allocates resources to benefit the operational efficiency of the building, as well as employee well-being. The project earned LEED Gold certification. In addition, the project received a 2020 Best Projects, Merit Award, by the ENR Texas & Louisiana.
The interior office space includes a credit union branch, open and closed offices with redundant power for all critical workstations and processes, board rooms, training rooms with operable partitions, conference rooms, meeting and collaboration areas, production rooms, break rooms, open employee lounge, micro market and other necessary ancillary spaces to support business and facility needs. The three conference rooms located on the first floor are equipped with operable glass walls that open to the amenities deck and rain garden.
All five levels of the building include balconies with glass handrails, access flooring for workspace flexibility and an integrated LED lighting system. The second floor includes a pedestrian bridge tie-in from an existing parking structure.
Additionally, the facility’s data center includes a Minimum Point of Entry (MPOE) room with a centralized Main Distribution Frame (MDF) that utilizes a Distribution Antenna System (DAS) to integrate with AACU’s infrastructure. The building is equipped with full AV, security, video surveillance, access control, white noise, public address systems and low voltage cabling.
