Overview

AP Construction delivered two new, ground-up middle schools, as part of Birdville ISD’s 2018 bond program. Each 178,000-square-foot campus was designed to support a full range of academic and extracurricular programs, including classrooms, science labs, food service areas, fine arts spaces, and both indoor and outdoor athletic facilities. The schools also feature administrative areas, modified roofing systems, and integrated tornado shelters to enhance safety and performance.

More about the project

Following completion of the new campuses, AP demolished the existing middle schools and transformed those sites into new athletic and site amenities, including natural grass football fields, running tracks, and expanded parking areas. Sustainability was a key priority for the district, and AP incorporated salvaged materials from the original schools into the new campus entrances—preserving each school’s history while reducing costs and supporting environmentally responsible construction practices.

The project required complex phasing and sequencing to maintain schedule within a constrained site surrounded by residential and commercial development. Additional challenges included a compressed timeline for parking lot construction, coordination of underground utility installation following demolition, and ensuring continuous access for students and staff already occupying the new facilities.

Despite these complexities, AP successfully delivered both campuses on schedule, demonstrating expertise in large-scale, multi-site educational construction and the ability to adapt to evolving project demands while maintaining quality and efficiency.
