Located on Grand Avenue sits the now finished Clubs on Grand Recreation Center completed by Adolfson & Peterson Construction. This 10,560-sf renovation and 6,000-sf recreation space addition was uniquely designed by CCBG Architects, and encompasses a variety of mixed-use studios including photography, painting, ceramics and jewelry. In addition, it includes a greenhouse, garden, two workrooms, warming kitchen, a large meeting space and site improvements.
The list of clubs that will be relocating to the community’s new studios includes Camera Guild of Sun City, Sun City Clay Club, Jewelry at Oakmont (changing their name to Jewelry, Stained Glass and More in the near future) and the Sun City Garden Club. For some, the renovations and additions to the building will nearly double their existing space, creating a safe environment for their members.
Dan Schroeder, Recreation Centers of Sun City Board President, stated in an article in Sun City’s Independent on the recent completion of the project how excited he and the selected clubs are to occupy the new facility. This facility will be nearly double in size from the previous location.
“All of the clubs going into this renovated building have expressed how grateful they were to be chosen for this project and how excited they are to move to these new facilities, said Schroeder. “I wish to express my personal thanks for the hard work and dedication from those who helped make this ‘grand’ project a reality.”
