More about the project

Constructed on an active behavioral health campus, the project required careful phasing, secure site logistics, and close coordination with the owner, design team, City of Austin, Austin Energy, and state regulatory agencies. AP navigated complex utility coordination, behavioral health safety requirements, and anti-ligature standards while maintaining ongoing hospital operations. Through proactive value engineering, mockups, compliance reviews, and a revised permitting strategy, the team accelerated occupancy by six months, avoided $470,000 in kitchen shutdown and catering costs, and delivered the project with 259,103 manhours, zero safety recordables, and zero lost-time incidents.

The completed expansion strengthens Cross Creek Behavioral Health Hospital’s ability to provide high-quality behavioral healthcare services within a modern, efficient, and patient-focused environment while supporting the growing demand for mental health resources in the Austin community.
