Maple Grove Library

Lead Certified

Located in one of the fastest growing cities in Minnesota, the Maple Grove Library is one of the top five busiest libraries in Hennepin County. Constructed with Minnesota limestone, the project nearly tripled the size of the old library. The new one-story, 40,000-sf contemporary library was built on a seven-acre site, which provided a much needed relief to the rapidly expanding community.

This project showcases a vaulted ceiling, sustainable features, a seasonal reading porch and a variety of seating and meeting spaces. Specific library features, include: art at the library, expanded collections, more public computers and building-wide wireless access, interactive features for early childhood literacy, expanded and enhanced children’s area, language collections, teen zone, and meeting rooms. Designed with the future in mind, the facility also includes a three-level, 356-stall parking ramp and the latest environmentally friendly trends.

Designed for LEED®-NC compliance, the building features several environmentally friendly elements, which include green roof to reduce heating and cooling costs, geothermal (lake-based) heating and cooling systems, high clerestory windows along the roofline to maximize use of daylighting, low-maintenance landscaping with native plants and local building materials.
