Overview

The TD Ameritrade Data Center project included the renovation of approximately 14,000 square feet of interior office space and the construction of a new 10,000 square foot data hall designed to support 2.4 MW of IT load with 2N electrical redundancy. The project also delivered updated workplace and operational spaces, including new bathrooms, offices, conference rooms, break areas, and point of presence (PoP) rooms, along with security offices, a testing and engineering lab, and rack build areas. Electrical infrastructure included two new and two existing 2,500 kVA utility transformers, four 2,000 kW generators, transfer switches, permanent load bank gear, and four sets of paralleled lithium-ion–fed 750 kVA UPS modules, along with associated switchboards, PDUs, and busway systems.

More about the project

The mechanical system features three 400 ton air cooled chillers and 22 chilled water CRAH units, supported by pumps, controls, and accessories configured to provide an N+1(2) redundant mechanical system to ensure continuous operations.

The project required close coordination with ongoing client operations. A phased construction approach allowed TD Ameritrade employees to remain operational while half of the space was renovated at a time. Through strong coordination with subcontractors and equipment manufacturers, the team was able to integrate new infrastructure with existing generator pads, chilled water piping, and pathways from previous data hall expansions, ultimately delivering the project one month ahead of schedule.
