AP Completes Construction of Haltom and Richland Middle Schools

Adolfson & Peterson Construction completed construction on two middle schools for Birdville Independent School District. The project called for the ground-up construction of two 170,000-square-foot buildings: Haltom Middle School in Haltom City and Richland Middle School in Richland Hills.

“AP’s work on previous school facilities and our well-established relationship with Birdville ISD lined us up perfectly to take on the Haltom Middle School and Richland Middle School replacement projects,” said Zack Rogers, vice president/project executive with AP. “Our consistent communication with the district, the architects and our trade partners enabled us to build two facilities that take into consideration the needs of not only the students, but the Haltom City and Richland Hills communities as well.”

The newly constructed schools each feature two stories of classrooms, labs, kitchens with commercial-grade freezers and coolers, a theater/staging space with a lighting system, band and choir rooms, science labs and indoor/outdoor athletic facilities. The schools also feature modified roofing systems, tornado shelters and administrative spaces. The corridors of both schools feature painted walls with graphics and PLAM (plastic laminate clad countertops) throughout. Funding for the project came from BISD’s 2018 $252.8 million bond package. AP also completed new-and-improved track and football field facilities in December 2021.
