Adolfson & Peterson Construction (AP), a national, family-owned construction management and contracting company, recently started renovations to Chisholm Hall at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA).
The $6 million project is currently underway and expected to be completed in July 2026.
Chisholm Hall, UTSA’s largest and oldest residence hall, offers some of the campus’ most spacious student bedrooms. The 120,860-square-foot residence hall features two fully furnished layout options, including double- and triple-occupancy rooms, supporting a dynamic and accessible on-campus living experience.
Being selected to renovate Chisholm Hall is a meaningful opportunity for our team to support the University of Texas at San Antonio and its continued investment in student life,” said Addisu Negash, Project Executive at AP. “Kicking off this project allows us to enhance a legacy residence hall with modern upgrades that improve comfort, functionality and long-term performance for the students who call it home.
AP’s scope of work includes renovations across floors one through four, with construction now underway to deliver targeted upgrades designed to modernize building systems while enhancing resident comfort, efficiency and long-term durability. Improvements will include upgrades to resident bathroom vanity areas, installation of new acoustical ceilings and lighting, replacement of mechanical unit ventilators and hallway ductwork, activity chiller replacement and limited remediation work.
The project represents an important milestone for our San Antonio team and reflects our growing presence in the region,” said Granger Hassman, Regional President at AP. “We’re proud to partner on a project that not only revitalizes a key campus facility but also reinforces our commitment to delivering high-quality construction solutions for higher education clients across Texas.
Chesney Morales Architects serves as the project architect.
AP has worked on several higher education projects across Texas, with current and past projects including The University of Texas Permian-Basin, Midland College, the University of North Texas, The University of Texas in Austin, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and Dallas’ Southern Methodist University.
With more than 25 years in Texas and 80 years as a national construction firm, AP continues to work on several notable projects in Central Texas and throughout the state. The company recently completed the ER expansion at San Antonio’s Methodist Landmark Hospital. AP is also currently working on two Austin ISD high schools, along with constructing the Heritage Oaks medical office in Marble Falls. In the Dallas-Fort Worth area, AP is working on the new KDFW studio and office facility and Cook Children’s clinic in Arlington, as well as phase two of the Santander Tower adaptive reuse project in downtown Dallas. Other notable completed projects include the PGA of America headquarters in Frisco, Vari’s global headquarters, with VariSpace Coppell and Buildings 17 and 18 at Billingsley Company’s International Business Park in Plano.
