Overview

A typical occupied renovation results in what are often necessary impacts to operations and revenue. In this case, officials for the Town of Parker had actually feared they would need to shut down the Parker Recreation Center during this renovation and addition project. AP assured the town the addition and renovation could be done while keeping the center open, without compromising safety or quality. In the end, AP was able to deliver on that promise. In fact, the team kept the construction impact to such a minimal level, the center actually increased membership, and therefore revenue, by more than 20% during construction.

With a goal of providing Parker residents more community recreational options, the Town of Parker, Perkins+Will and AP teamed up to transform the existing recreation center, originally built more than two decades ago. Adding more than 32,000 sf of space, the transformation entailed demolition of exterior walls in the existing natatorium and removal of the existing ballasted roofing.
